Central to the Puerto Rican Studies Initiative is a commitment to working on various community based projects and fostering more civic education, engagement, and participation of Puerto Ricans in Connecticut. Ongoing Projects
El Show de Analeh Civic Engagement Education Spanish TV Series
We are currently working with El Show de Analeh, the San Juan Center, and Capitol Community College to document the impact of El Show de Analeh's programming on the civic participation of Puerto Ricans and Latino's in the Greater Hartford Region. This project is part of a 3-year grant from the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving. For more information on this project please click here
Smithsonian National Museum of the American Latino
The Puerto Rican Studies Initiative is currently working with the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Latino to promote their educational public programing projects. We are currently planing a series of educational activities to take place in April 2023.

Hispanic Health Council
The Puerto Rican Studies Initiative is currently working with the Hispanic Health Council to explore the possibility of building a Welcome Center to facilitate the incorporation of Puerto Ricans and Latinos arriving to Hartford, CT.

National Puerto Rican Agenda
The Puerto Rican Studies Initiative is currently working with the the National Puerto Rican Agenda to organize a one-day symposium that will bring Puerto Rican leaders together to discuss the possible strategies to develop a collective agenda.
